A che punto siamo

Nel settembre 2000 il Museo Multimediale dei Tornei, delle Giostre e dei Giochi ha preso avvio. Ciò vuol dire, data l'attuale indisponibilità della sede, inizio di un lavoro di studio, ricerca, organizzazione e informatizzazione materiali e documenti, che ha dato vita al Centro di documentazione. Il Centro si avvale di un finanziamento europeo dell'Iniziativa Comunitaria "Leader II". Attivato dal GAL (Associazione Valle Umbra Gruppo di Azione Locale), il contributo è gestito dall'Ente Giostra della Quintana con il cofinanziamento del Comune di Foligno, ed è finalizzato anche ad un lavoro di ricerca che coinvolge due nazioni: Italia (Umbria, Foligno) e Spagna (Navarra, Olite). Fine ultimo e obiettivo comune, rafforzare l'identità storica e culturale di un territorio, valorizzarne risorse e tradizioni con iniziative di ricerca, scambi di esperienze, raccolta e scambio di materiale da inserire in Musei multimediali delle Rievocazioni Storiche. In tutto questo, a che punto siamo? Il Centro di documentazione ha sede operativa ed espositiva nella Palazzina di Porta Romana. Il lavoro di ricerca, seguito dal Comitato di coordinamento generale del Museo, è affidato alla Società Cooperativa di servizi informatici "La Terra Invisibile".

Gli Obiettivi

• Primo elenco dei tornei, delle giostre e dei giochi storici dei Paesi europei.
• Prima rassegna bibliografica suddivisa per ciascun Paese europeo.
• Primo catalogo dei film e degli audiovisivi di riferimento.
• Primo catalogo ragionato delle stampe, dei dipinti, delle immagini e dei reperti tematici.
• Riattivazione di segmenti tematici delle mostre: "Il costume e l'immagine pittorica nel Seicento umbro" (Foligno, 1984), "L'arte del costume nel Seicento umbro" (Foligno 1985), "La società in costume: giostre e tornei nell'Italia di antico regime" (Foligno, 1986).
• Realizzazione del sito Internet del Museo.

I Risultati

• La ricerca, svolta attraverso la rete informatica Internet, la consultazione di volumi e il contatto diretto con gli Enti organizzatori, ha condotto alla costituzione di un data base con 304 rievocazioni italiane. L'indagine sta inoltre interessando Francia, Spagna, Portogallo, Germania, Belgio, Olanda, Gran Bretagna, Danimarca, Grecia.
• Catalogo bibliografico informatizzato (programma Isis Winteca) con 1700 titoli di cui 700 forniti dalla Biblioteca Comunale di Foligno. Avviata la ricerca di pubblicazioni in lingua inglese, francese, spagnola e tedesca.
• La ricerca ha finora condotto a 198 titoli catalogati (programma Isis Winteca) e così suddivisi: film, cinegiornali, telegiornali, documentari e programmi televisivi, corredati di un abstract di contenuto.
• Catalogo informatizzato delle immagini costituito da 400 schede tra stampe e dipinti. La ricerca prosegue.
• "Giostre e Tornei: dalle Mostre al Museo", 24 febbraio - 31 agosto 2001. Prima "comunicazione esterna" di un programma espositivo che si articolerà nel tempo fino all'apertura del Museo.
• www.museo.tornei.quintana.it. Nel sito si potranno consultare i repertori e i cataloghi sopra descritti e visitare virtualmente la mostra "La società in costume: giostre e tornei nell'Italia di antico regime" (Foligno1986).

At what point do we stand?

The Multimedia Museum of Historic Tournaments, Jousts, and Games was initiated in September 2000. The chosen museum site is currently unavailable, but a documentation centre was already created as a place of study, research, and organization of materials and documents. The centre has received funds from the EU-initiative "Leader II". The grant was received by the GAL (Umbrian Valley Association, Local Action Group), and is administered by the Giostra della Quintana Association, together with co-funding from the City of Foligno. The grant is partially intended for research activities that involve two countries: Italy (Foligno, Umbria) and Spain (Olite, Navarra). The final goal of the initiative is to strengthen the historic and cultural identity of this region, and to evaluate its resources and traditions through research activities, exchanges of information, and collection and exchange of materials for multimedia museums about historic re-enactments. Where do we stand on the way to achieving all this? The documentation centre's operative and administrative seat is in the Palazzina of Porta Romana. Research activities, under the supervision of the museum's Committee for General Coordination, have been assigned to "La Terra Invisibile", a cooperative society for computer services.

The Objectives

• First listing of historic tournaments, jousts and games in European countries.
• First bibliographic exposition subdivided by European countries.
• First catalogue of films and audio-visual reference materials.
• First catalogue of prints, paintings, images and thematic exhibits.
• Reactivation of thematic segments of the following exhibits: The Costume and the Painted Image in the 1600s in Umbria (Foligno 1984); The Art of Costumes in the Umbria of the 1600s (Foligno 1985); Society in Costume: jousts and tournaments in the Italy of ancient regimes (Foligno, 1986).
• Creation of the museum's website.

The Results

• Research on the internet, consultation of printed materials, and direct contact with organizing bodies have led to the registration of 304 Italian re-enactments. The research also covers France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Denmark, and Greece.
• A computerized bibliographic catalogue (Isis Winteca program) was created with 1700 titles, 700 of which were provided by the Foligno Communal Library. Research of publications in English, French, Spanish and German has been initiated.
• The research has so far yielded 198 catalogued titles (Isis Winteca Program), subdivided as follows: film, cine-journals, tele-news, tv programs and documentaries, all with an annexed abstract.
• A computerized catalogue of images was created, with 400 pieces - both prints and paintings. The research is on-going.
• Jousts and Tournaments: from Exhibitions to a Museum, 24 February - 31 August 2001. First External Communication of a program for exhibitions between now and the opening of the museum.
• A website was created: www.museo.tornei.quintana.it. It contains the above mentioned exhibits and catalogues and allows a virtual visit to the exhibition "Society in Costume: jousts and tournaments in the Italy of ancient regimes" (Foligno 1986).
